Accident Involving Ambo 275

On Friday, January 26, 2018 at approximately 2340 hours, Ambulance 275 (A275) was returning to the station from an earlier call in a non-emergency status, traveling westbound on Wise Avenue. After passing Park Drive, east of the station, A275 activated its emergency lights and flasher warning devices. When the eastbound traffic on Wise Avenue came to a stop, the ambulance pulled forward and turned perpendicular to the road to back into the station and started backing in.

As A275 started backing in, a white Hyundai approached from the westbound direction at a high rate of speed (Wise Avenue is posted at 30 mph). The passenger vehicle struck the left rear of A275 spinning it around 90 degrees.

Although shaken up themselves, the crew of A275, immediately exited the ambulance and began rendering assistance to the two occupants of the Hyundai. Once additional help arrived from those at the Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Station as well as the Dundalk Fire Station, the crew was relieved and given medical attention. Both were transported to Bayview Medical Center (BMC) and were evaluated and treated for non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released. Both occupants of the Hyundai were treated at the scene and also transported to BMC. The status of the Hyundai occupants are unknown. The names of the Hyundai occupants are unknown. Crash Scene investigators from the Baltimore County Police Department are handling the investigation. Further questions regarding the incident can be directed to our PIO, Bob Frances.
