Press Release: Robert Peros Family Outreach

To: All Affected and Interested Parties

From: The Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company

Subject: Robert Peros Family Outreach

Date: January 25, 2017
The Officers and members of the Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company wish to extend our most sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who supported and encouraged us during and after the loss of our brother and Probationary Firefighter Robert Peros.
Robert was struck and killed while assisting his father on the side of I-695 on Saturday December 3, 2016. The outpouring of support to us and to Robert’s family in the form of thoughts, prayers, kind words, as well as money and gifts was nothing short of inspiring.
This type of tragic and sudden loss is never easy, but just two weeks before Christmas it could have been even worse. As many of you know, in addition to his own two children, Robert and his wife Ashley were raising four of his nieces and nephews. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of money and gifts from many of our brothers and sisters in the Baltimore County Fire Department family, hundreds of people and businesses in our community, as well as anonymous strangers from far outside our County and State, Ashley was able to handle many stressful and unexpected financial burdens, as well as provide a normal Christmas for her young children.
Everyone who was touched by Robert’s life and death are eternally grateful and truly thankful for your generosity and support. Of course, nothing will ever replace the loss of such a caring, loving, and dedicated husband, father, son, friend, but your kindness reminds us that none of us is carrying the burden by ourselves. That alone gives us comfort and hope.

Thank You and God Bless You,

The Officers and Members of the Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company

Working Fire at Old Seagrams Plant

On Sunday, January 8th at 2220 Engine 271 & 272 responded with other area fire stations on Box 6-16 to the old Seagrams Distillery on Soller Point Rd. Engine 6 arrived to find a vacant warehouse with fire through the roof. Engine 272 arrived 2nd and covered Engine 6s hydrant and the crew assisted with fire suppression. Master streams and ladder pipes were used from the exterior, due to the dilapidated conditions of the vacant buildings. Engine 271s crew assisted in various aspects of the operation and cleared around 2330. Engine 272 remained on scene until the fire was extinguished and cleared around 0330 after being on scene for approximately 5 hours.

Happy New Year!

As 2016 comes to a close, we would like to wish all of our followers and supporters a very happy and safe new year.

2016 saw many accomplishments for our company. Some of which included, our brand new 2016 Pierce Engine being put in service, our 1996 Quality Engine being bought back and after some major repairs being put back in service, finding a replacement medic unit after ours was totalled and put into service and a TREMENDOUS increase in the amount of time we put our medic unit on the street, just to name a few. We are looking forward to an even better year for 2017! We couldn't do it without the support of the Dundalk community and areas surrounding.

Remember, if you're out celebrating tonight, please use a designated driver. We don't want to respond to any emergencies because someone made a bad decision and decided to drink and drive.

Again, thank you for your loyal support and here's to an even better year in 2017!
